We are committed to ensuring the well-being of the communities where we work because we are aware of the importance that our actions have for the people and environment there. In this vein, GPG Mexico promotes social development and care for the environment in the regions where it operates by means of various actions:

Donations to the Agua Prieta community

In line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) agreed by the United Nations, 25 containers for collecting solid waste have been delivered to various schools in Agua Prieta, Sonora, through the Naco Nogales Combined Cycle Power Plant (Mexico).

Similarly, a new donation has been made to Red Cross staff in that municipality comprising necessary items for the prevention of Covid-19, including KN95 face masks and protective goggles. The Naturgy team has also collaborated in inspecting the effects of heavy rain in the town, and some 300 dispensers have been donated along with building materials for the affected families and others in vulnerable situations.

In addition, six air-conditioning units have been donated to the DIF (National System for Integral Family Development) in Agua Prieta. These units have become basic items for towns in the north of the country due to the high temperatures. Finally, our team helped give a new look to the Plutarco Elías Calles luciera Secondary School, where the walls, sports areas and fences have all been painted.

Technology and new life in Tuxpan and Durango

GPG’s social work has also had an impact on Tuxpan y Durango. In the first city, a donation of two computers and two laryngoscope sets was made to the IMSS (Mexican Social Security Institute) on 14 September through the Tuxpan III & V Combined Cycle Power Plant (CCPP).

The same day, we held a reforestation day at our Norte Durango CCPP, where GPG Mexico team volunteers took part in planting 40 trees of various species in the plant’s vicinity. The trees were donated by Durango Council in a co-responsibility action with the plant.

These CSR actions are part of the basic core of our activity. Therefore, we will continue promoting projects that contribute to responsible environmental management and have a positive impact on the places where we operate.
