In a celebration that marked another milestone in Australia’s energy transition, the Crookwell 3 wind farm was officially inaugurated on December 12th, in an event full of enthusiasm and commitment to a more sustainable future.
The inauguration was attended by various local authorities, as well as representatives from nearby communities and project stakeholders. Among the event attendees, the event had the presence of Francisco Bustío, CEO of GPG; Pedro Serrano, Managing Director of GPG Australia; Gema Deus, Head of Operations GPG Australia; Shaq Mohajerani, Head of Development at GPG Australia; Guillermo Alonso, Development Director GPG Australia; David Santo Tomás, Construction Director GPG Australia; and Alfonso Monedero, Crookwell 3 Project Director.
Also present was Angus Holcombe, Commercial and Operations Manager at Telstra Energy; along with the Mayor of Upper Lachland, Paul Culhane, and other local authorities and key contractors, who collectively celebrated this milestone in the transition to cleaner and more sustainable energy.
The event began at 11:00 in the morning with an Acknowledgement to Country led by the master of ceremonies, our colleague Shaq Mohajerani, Head of Development at GPG Australia. During this acknowledgment, our colleague Shaq thanked key attendees for celebrating the start of the project’s operations and recognized the Gundungurra people as the Traditional Custodians of the land, honoring their culture, community, and leadership.
After the opening ceremony, attendees had the opportunity to listen to speeches by Francisco Bustío, Angus Holcombe and Paul Culhane, who highlighted the value and significance of the project from different perspectives, helping to frame the impact of the Crookwell 3 wind farm in the global, business and local context.

Ribbon-cutting ceremony and photos
One of the most anticipated moments was the presentation of commemorative gifts, followed by the symbolic ribbon-cutting, where Francisco Bustío and Angus Holcombe led the official inauguration alongside David Santo Tomás, Construction Director, and Alfonso Monedero, Project Director.
The event was accompanied by applause and numerous opportunities for group photos.



Visit to the turbines and networking
After the formal ceremony, attendees enjoyed a light lunch and had the opportunity to engage in networking conversations. The main authorities moved to Turbine 10 to learn about the interior of the turbines, as well as to understand the magnitude and scope of the project.
For GPG colleagues, the day included a tour of the wind farm, with detailed explanations of the operations carried out there.
