GPG Dominican Republic, in partnership with the Dominican Environmental Consortium, held an Environmental Campaign on July 31st at the El Zorzal Scientific Reserve (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) as part of the ‘Red List Rescue Mission’ project.
In this project, since 2018, we have been sponsoring the Pimenta Ozua species, which is classified as “endangered” on the “Red List of Vascular Flora” of the Dominican Republic.
For the activity, we collaborated with Environmental Volunteers from the Palamara and La Vega power plants, staff from ECORED, the National Botanical Garden (JBN), the Santiago Botanical Garden (JBS), the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, the Dominican Environmental Consortium, and the local community.
During this initiative, 500 trees of the ‘Pimenta Ozua’ species were planted, with the participation of 35 people, covering an area of approximately 8,000 m².
At the end of the planting, personnel from JBN and JBS conducted a sensitization session, sharing information about the Red List Rescue Mission Program, the Pimenta Ozua, its medicinal properties, and its sustainable management as a beneficial crop for the community.

Congratulations to our colleagues at GPG Dominican Republic for their commitment to the protection of the Pimenta Ozua and the care of the country’s flora and fauna.
