Slow pitch is a variation of softball, a sport derived from baseball. The difference between the two lies in the pitching style: in slow pitch, the ball is thrown slowly and with a pronounced arc, whereas in baseball, the balls are pitched quickly. This makes a game less physically demanding and suitable for all ages.
In the state of Sonora, in northern Mexico, where one of the most important professional baseball leagues in the world (La Liga del Pacífico) is played, this sport has been popular for almost a century. As a result, these recreational slow pitch leagues have gained significant popularity in recent years among groups of friends and families, and many of GPG workers have taken up the sport.
This summer, several employees from CCP Hermosillo formed a team called “GPG” and registered it to compete in the “Big League Dreams” league, which is very popular in the city of Hermosillo. They participated in weekly games against teams made up of employees from other companies, as well as residents from different neighborhoods across the city.
The goals, in addition to engaging in physical activity and staying fit, were to spend time together with their families, reduce stress, and strengthen many of the familial relationships among employees.
They played for 16 weeks, and on August 7th, they faced the team “Servicios Gastronómicos Contreras” in the final, where they were crowned champions.

Congratulations to GPG employees for their enthusiasm, for promoting team and family activities, and for contributing to physical and mental health!
