Guimarânia I & II photovoltaic power plant

The photovoltaic plants Guimarânia I and Guimarânia II with a generation capacity of 82 MW are the most recent plants carried out by GPG in Brazil, the projects were acquired from Canadian Solar Inc. and the construction carried out by the GPG team and went into operation in the fourth quarter of 2018.

The photovoltaic plant Guimarânia I with 41 MW and the photovoltaic plant Guimarânia II with 41 MW are located in the state of Minas Gerais, in the Southeast region of Brazil. The Guimarânia I plant consists of 31 inverters and 123,750 installed modules, the Guimarânia II plant consists of 31 inverters and 125,370 installed modules. The estimated production of 165 GW, which will be supplied to the Electric Energy Trading Chamber (CCEE), as established in the supply contract (PPA) signed after the destination of this project in the 2nd Reserve Energy Auction of 2015.

The sale of generated energy will be over 20 years with the Brazilian State System, at an average price of approximately € 97.5 / MWh. This contract will allow GPG to guarantee regulated revenue until 2038.

In terms of EBITDA, Savanna will contribute EBITDA of MUSD 12 in 2019, increasing GPG’s EBITDA by around 4%.

Sobral I photovoltaic power plant

The Sobral I photovoltaic power plant 35.13 MW is located in the state of Piauí in the Northeast Region of Brazil. It was built in a record time of 8 months. It is the first photovoltaic generation plant outside Spain and occupies 100 hectares. During the construction, 10,000 units of panes were installed every day, which translates into 2.6 MW, and explains the over 900 workers needed for this.

The plant has been in operation since November 2017 and it is producing 79 GW per year and forms part of an agreement with the Brazilian State system to sell generated energy over a 20-year period. The plant is made up of over 118.000 modules. It poses a challenge in terms of equipment monitoring and requires a large number of routine tasks to be managed swiftly and safely, with a reduced and different form of organisation.
