The event was inaugurated by Julia López of the Tuxpan Secretary of the Navy, Guillermo Ramos of GPG Mexico and the president of the Sea Turtle Research, Protection and Conservation Centre, Miguel Ramón.
Representatives from CONANP (National Commission of Protected Natural Areas) and our social manager in Tuxpan, Bernardo Morales Vázquez, were also present.
Workshops and conferences were held with specialists from prestigious universities and key government bodies in conservation, such as CONANP, the Lobos-Tuxpan Reef System, the Secretary of the Navy, University of Veracruz, the National Polytechnic Institute of Mexico, and the Aquarium of the Port of Veracruz.
In addition, several schools from the city of Tuxpan took part. In total, more than 790 people attended the activities, a record number for the community and the camp.
In these workshops, topics related to the importance of protecting the environment and the different species were discussed, and the students were told about the environmental impact of climate change in the northern area of Veracruz, highlighting the importance of having environmental education programmes to protect our environment.
It is important to highlight the participation of the GPG team from the Tuxpan combined cycle power plant, who were attentive to every organisational need, and made sure to let the participants know how our power plant works.
These workshops allowed us to convey our commitment to the environment.
In addition, they provided the students with knowledge on the environment, as well as values and practices through group integration activities, which favoured communication and exchange with the different institutions involved in the great challenge of caring for our environment.
