In mid-February, a group of students from Benemérito de las Américas school in Agua Prieta visited the Naco Nogales Combined Cycle Power Plant to learn about its operations and how a combined cycle plant functions.
The students, members of the VeVerde Ecological Club, were accompanied by their teacher, María Isabel Vázquez. They received an explanation of how the wastewater treatment plant works to obtain the water used for power generation.
Araceli Guadalupe Esquivel Campos, a biochemist at GPG, delivered a detailed presentation on GPG’s efforts in energy and environmental sustainability. To enhance the learning experience, she prepared sludge samples from the purification process, which the students observed under a microscope, allowing them to deepen their understanding of environmental impact and sustainability.
