On March 25, the Bií Hioxo wind farm took part in the Sustainability Forum “Agenda 2030: How Sustainable is Our Future?”, organized by the Mexican Wind Energy Association (AMDEE) at the Technological Institute of the Isthmus (Juchitán de Zaragoza, Oaxaca) as part of the association’s 20th anniversary celebrations.
The event brought together various companies and experts in the wind energy sector, including GPG, Vestas, Parque Eólico Ingenio, Grupo México, Peñoles, EDF Renewables México, and the Center for Intercultural, Legal, and Environmental Research.
The forum was structured into five thematic panels that addressed key topics such as gender equity in the industry, the impact of wind energy on local communities in the Isthmus, technological innovation and its social and environmental effects, and strategies to mitigate the effects of climate change.
In this context, Carlos López Toledo, supervisor of the Bií Hioxo wind farm, participated in the panel “The Jobs of the Wind,” sharing his experience in the operation and maintenance of wind farms.
Additionally, as part of the forum’s activities, the Social Engagement Team of the Bií Hioxo wind farm presented an exhibition on its environmental initiatives developed at the Nacanu’ Bií Community House. These initiatives include vermicomposting, composting, germplasm collection, germination, urban gardens, and nurseries, which are part of the company’s sustainability strategy and commitment to the local community.
The forum welcomed approximately 800 students from the Mechatronics and Electromechanical Engineering programs, positioning itself as a key platform for knowledge exchange and academic collaboration with the energy sector.
The Academic Deputy Director of the Technological Institute of the Isthmus, Osiris Martínez Jiménez, expressed gratitude to the participating wind energy companies and organizations for their role in strengthening the education and training of future industry professionals.
