GPG Mexico and the Bií Hioxo wind farm celebrate Mother’s Day (Juchitán, Oaxaca)

As part of the Mother’s Day celebrations, the Nacanu’ Bií Community Center, supported by the Bií Hioxo wind farm, held a commemorative event on Wednesday, May 14, aimed at recognizing and honoring the invaluable role that mothers play within the community.

The activity took place at the Santa Martha Sports Center, located in the Seventh Section of Juchitán de Zaragoza, which served as a gathering point for dozens of mothers who came together to enjoy a moment of joy, appreciation, and connection.

The event featured “Diverticuates,” a local entertainer from the Seventh Section, who led fun and engaging activities in both Spanish and Zapotec. Highlights included games such as “Word Formation,” “The Flying Flip-Flop,” “Shake Your Hips,” and a lively karaoke session. These activities captured the participants’ attention and enthusiasm, encouraging interaction, laughter, and unity.

craft station was set up especially for the children of the attendees, where they created handmade items such as decorated cards, paper flowers, and personalized gifts. These were made with the support of the Xquendas volunteers, who guided and assisted the children throughout the creative process.

At the end of the workshop, the children presented their creations to their mothers, creating touching and meaningful moments.

As part of the celebration, snacks and refreshing drinks were offered, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere aligned with the Community Center’s mission of fostering social integration and a culture of peace.

Initiatives like this are part of the ongoing efforts by the Bií Hioxo wind farm and its Community Center to strengthen community ties by promoting cultural and recreational activities that recognize the vital role of women.

GPG Mexico appreciate the participation of all the mothers, as well as the support of the Xquendas volunteers who made this event possible. GPG reaffirm their commitment to human development and to creating spaces that celebrate those who, with dedication and effort, contribute each day to the well-being of their families and communities.

A total of 250 mothers, 49 children, and 8 Xquendas volunteers took part in the event.
