As part of our commitment to the overall well-being of our team, active breaks will be implemented at the Tuxpan III and IV Combined Cycle Power Plants. This initiative aligns with occupational safety measures and the Mexican standard NOM-035-STPS, which focuses on the prevention of psychosocial risk factors in the workplace.
Led by occupational risk prevention technician Laura Zaret Segura Reyes, in collaboration with the GPG medical service and supported by the plant’s manager, the initiative reinforces our proactive leadership in fostering a healthy work environment.
What are active breaks? They are short sessions of physical exercises designed to reduce accumulated fatigue and strengthen both physical and mental health during the workday. These exercises are particularly important for preventing musculoskeletal disorders caused by occupational factors such as repetitive movements, manual handling of loads, and poor posture at workstations.
Key benefits include:
· Reduction of stress and muscle tension
· Prevention of injuries through stretching and joint mobility
· Improved focus, attention, and productivity
·Release of endorphins, boosting mood and self-esteem
·Breaks up the work routine, encouraging a more motivated environment
·Stimulates circulation and oxygen flow to the brain
·Encourages teamwork and social interaction among colleagues
Active breaks are carried out two to three times a week at strategically coordinated times to avoid disrupting operational activities.
GPG Mexico encourages all team members to take part enthusiastically in this initiative, which places health, respect, and well-being at the core of our organization.
