GPG Australia collaborates with local brigades to strengthen bushfire readyness at the Ryan Corner Wind Farm

GPG Australia met with local fire brigades to develop an action plan in the event of a fire in the Ryan Corner Wind Farm area

Due to the high temperatures during the summer months, the risk of fires in green areas such as those surrounding the Ryan Corner Wind Farm is a real concern for the GPG Australia team. Given the nature of these facilities, it is crucial to maintain constant monitoring to quickly detect potential fire sources and act immediately if needed.

Over the past few months, 5 meetings have been held with local brigades to conduct on-site training sessions, allowing teams to become familiar with the environment, layout, and key points to monitor, taking into account the infrastructure of the wind farm.

In this way, specific emergency plans are being developed for each of the GPG Australia sites, in collaboration with the teams working at each location. These plans are tailored to the circumstances and operational needs of each facility, as well as to the potential emergencies that could arise based on their characteristics. Additionally, the drills provide brigades with the opportunity to acquire the necessary equipment and to build the confidence that only comes from first-hand knowledge of the area.

A total of 24 professionals from the Toolong, Port Fairy, Kirkstall, and Yambuk brigades participated in the drills and training exercises.

As the brigades closest to the area, they will be the first responders in the event of an emergency at the wind farm and will therefore be responsible for taking control of the situation.
