GPG Mexico and Xquendas Volunteers Celebrate the End of the 2025 Summer Course

Last Saturday, August 9, the closing gathering was held with the Xquendas volunteers who took part in the 2025 Summer Course, organized by the Bií Hioxo wind farm through its Community Relations and Social Management team. The event, hosted at the ranch of landowner Juana Sánchez Carrasco, marked the conclusion of four intense weeks of collaborative work, during which young volunteers put their skills, values, and commitment to the community into practice.

Throughout the course, the Xquendas volunteers not only supported children in educational and recreational activities, but also went through a process of personal and collective growth. The closing event provided a space to acknowledge their efforts, share experiences, and strengthen the bonds built over the program.

The day began with the “World Café” activity, where participants reflected on their experiences, skills gained, and areas for improvement. This exercise encouraged open communication and reinforced the importance of teamwork and active listening.

Host Juana Sánchez Carrasco offered her hospitality by preparing pizzas for the volunteers, who enjoyed a relaxed atmosphere with games, pool activities, carne asada tacos, and spontaneous musical performances. These moments of fellowship are key to strengthening networks of emotional and community support, while reinforcing the volunteers’ sense of belonging.

The Summer Course and its closing celebration represent more than just an isolated activity: they are part of a broader process of fostering human capacities, youth leadership, and community networks. The Xquendas initiative is part of a strategy aimed at generating social impact locally, by strengthening bonds, promoting mutual learning, and planting values that endure.

This community-based approach—grounded in trust, recognition, and active participation—first took shape at the Bií Hioxo wind farm and has since become part of the company’s wider social engagement model in different regions. Its success lies in putting people at the center, acknowledging that sustainable development must be built from a human foundation.

The closing reaffirmed that community work does not end with the course; it continues in every bond created, in every network woven, and in every young person who chooses to lead with empathy and commitment.
