Kuintla Tlawaná in the Totonaca language means watchmen, and that is what the children of the team of Tuxpan III and IV combined cycle power plant did on the occasion of World Sea Turtle Day: learn, discuss and put forward proposals for the conservation of this species and recommendations to improve care practices at the sea turtle camp in Villamar, Tuxpan.
As an initial activity, 76 olive ridley turtle hatchlings were released. Afterwards, a reflection exercise was carried out to define the main problem threatening the species, which was defined as the following: “Human malpractice in respecting biodiversity and the rules that protect it”.
Something we should highlight is the diversity of ideas in the meeting between young people from Tuxpan and the Ruta de los kilómetros, demonstrating that they are able to work as a team with assertive communication to resolve the concerns raised at the workshop and provide solutions from different perspectives.
