Celebration of the 1Oth anniversary of La Caridad CCP (Sonora, Mexico)

On September 26th, an emotional celebration was held to mark the tenth anniversary of the commissioning of the La Caridad combined cycle power plant (CCP), a project in Nacozari de García in the state of Sonora operated by GPG.

An event attended by prominent GPG México executives, the manager of the power plant, the Director of Latin American Services of Siemens Energy and the mayor of the municipality of Nacozari de Garcia, highlighting the importance of this significant achievement for the region.

Those present at the event included:

 

  • Vidal Muhech Dip, Director of the Steering Committee Grupo Mexico.
  • Francisco Zinser González, Managing Director of Grupo México Infraestructura.
  • Oscar Coble Herrera, Deputy Director of Operations Grupo México Energía.
  • Raúl Zubía Sarabia, manager of the Power Plant for the Naturgy group.
  • Alejandro Herrera, Director of Latin America Services for Siemens Energy.
  • Gustavo Fausto Ortega, Managing Director of Grupo México Energía.
  • Mario Rafael Ornelas Villalobos, Head of Human Resources Grupo México Infrastructure Division.
  • C.P. Pedro Morghen Rivera, Mayor of the municipality of Nacozari de García.

 

 

The executives told the audience about the inspiring story that led to the creation of this power plant, designed to address the increasing energy demands of the mining activity in the area. They recalled the initial challenges, the important decisions taken along the way and, most importantly, the group’s vision for the medium and long-term future of La Caridad.

Furthermore, emphasis was placed on the key partnership between SIEMENS, GPG-Naturgy, and Grupo México in relation to this project. 

During the ceremony, the plant’s employees and contractors were honoured for their outstanding performance during these 10 years of operation, marked by a remarkable absence of lost-time accidents.

At this juncture, two commemorative plaques were revealed: one to commemorate the 10th anniversary and another to acknowledge the remarkable achievement of 10 years without any incidents.

The celebration was made even more special by the Symphony Orchestra and the dance group from Casa Grande Nacozari, a community outreach project of Grupo Mexico. Their presence and performance added a cultural touch and festive mood to this extraordinary day.
