GPG Australia has hosted its first Community Information Day to introduce the proposed Darlington Wind Farm project to the local community.
This event took place at Mortlake Recreation Reserve, approximately 10 kilometers from the project site. The project boundary is located approximately 3.2km southwest of Darlington and 6.3km northeast of Mortlake along the Hamilton Highway, within the Shire of Moyne, and covers an area of approximately 5,645 hectares.
GPG Australia team members as well as consultants specialised in planning and environment were present to answer all the questions from the attendants. Several tables were set up to address the key topics such as the project’s status and the extensive studies undertaken to prepare an Environmental Effects Statement (EES) application, as part of the process to get the planning permit for the project. The event comprised of two sessions and provided an opportunity to introduce the project team who currently oversees the project.
The Darlington Wind Farm is expected to create significant local jobs during both construction and operation phases and contemplates a Community Engagement and Benefit Sharing Plan that will be tailored based on the feedback from the local community.
