The Yambuk community recently gathered to explore ways to secure the best value for their area from the Ryan Corner Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund. Our colleague, Debra Dumesny, Community and Stakeholder Engagement Officer for the Ryan Corner and Hawkesdale wind farms, joined the residents to share details about the process of forming a local committee and to discuss the available grant opportunities.
Located about 4 km west of the wind farm, Yambuk is a small coastal town with a population of 284 people. The town is part of a farming community and is bordered by a lake that supports a flourishing natural wetland.
GPG Australia is contributing $130,000 annually through Ryan Corner wind farm to benefit the surrounding communities.
The Yambuk community is enthusiastic about collaborating with the Ryan Corner wind farm to develop a long-term plan with the support of Moyne Shire Council to create a more sustainable future. This initiative could serve as a model of collective effort to enhance the local area.
