On Monday, March 3, the employees at the Torito Hydroelectric Plant opened their doors to a group of 12 students and 2 teachers from Pomfret School, a renowned educational institution in Connecticut, United States.
The visitors arrived in Costa Rica as part of an academic program that allows them to immerse themselves in the study of sustainable development, renewable energies, and community impact projects, among other key topics.
During their tour of the plant, the students attended a talk given by the Operations and Maintenance Manager, where they gained deeper insights into the importance of energy sustainability and the challenges faced by hydroelectric generation in the country.
They also explored the facilities, gaining first-hand knowledge of the plant’s operations, the efficient use of water resources, and the positive impact of clean energy on the environment.
This visit not only provided students with the opportunity to learn about the fundamental role of hydroelectric power in the energy mix, but also allowed us to share our vision and commitment to a responsible and sustainable generation model.
The visit concluded with a heartfelt message of appreciation from the students and teachers, who highlighted the importance of understanding these processes to enrich their academic learning and broaden their perspective on the future of energy.
