In partnership with the National Commission for Protected Natural Areas (CONANP), GPG is developing an environmental awareness programme around the Bií Hioxo Wind Farm to increase knowledge about the challenges of climate change and biodiversity conservation in the Juchitec community.
The awareness workshops are aimed at the group of ‘Xquenda’ volunteers (meaning soul, origin, beginning and gift in the indigenous Zapotec language) who live in the area. Following the sessions, the attendees expressed their interest in learning more about these issues and about the prevention and mitigation measures they could implement in the Juchitán region.
This work forms part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitments made by Naturgy, as well as the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
