On Wednesday, July 16, an official scholarship award ceremony was held at the community dome in Aire Libre, Tuxpan, for students from the Aire Libre km 15 and Países Bajos km 8 Telebachilleratos, as well as university students from the “Ruta Los Kilómetros.” The event reaffirmed GPG’s commitment to sustainable development, youth talent promotion, and fostering social mobility within communities.
Organized by the social management team and volunteers from the “Día Solidario” program at the power plant, in coordination with the Tuxpan City Council, the event reflected the power of shared responsibility, genuine community connection, and collective construction of the common good.
The event was attended by Professor Jorge Arturo García Robles, Director of Education representing Mayor Dr. Jesús Fomperoza Torres; Engineer Fernando García Rivera, Head of the Tuxpan III and IV combined-cycle power plants; Biologist Ramadán Salazar González, Corporate Social Responsibility Officer for GPG LATAM; as well as parents, school officials, teachers, and scholarship recipients.
“At GPG, we understand that sustainable development is born from genuine collaboration among all social actors. We believe in shared responsibility as a driver of transformation: we build real connections with communities, work as allies of local development, and promote the common good,” said García Rivera, head of the Tuxpan III and IV plants.
“The scholarships for the Telebachillerato at km 15 are the result of the ‘Día Solidario,’ an initiative that channels the voluntary donation of one day’s salary from our employees. The scholarships for km 8 are part of our direct commitment from the plant, strengthening our bond with young people who have an educational life project,” added García Rivera.
In this edition, scholarships were awarded to:
· 42 students from the Aire Libre km 15 Telebachillerato.
· 17 students from the Países Bajos km 8 Telebachillerato.
· In addition, 5 university students from the Ruta Los Kilómetros continue to receive support through the program “With Día Solidario, I Go to University,” furthering their academic training.
Scholarship recipients spoke to express their gratitude to GPG, the Día Solidario Association, the FET program, and the Tuxpan III and IV plants, appreciating not only the academic support but also the formative accompaniment that connects them with environmental and social causes.
For several months now, these scholarships have been recognized as excellence scholarships, reinforcing their focus on supporting youth with high performance, community commitment, and a transformative vocation.
