GPG Mexico Promotes Coastal Conservation with Clean-Up Day at Emiliano Zapata Beach (Veracruz, Mexico)

As part of its commitment to environmental stewardship and community engagement, GPG Mexico led a beach clean-up on June 21 at Emiliano Zapata Beach, in collaboration with the Nakú Kayám Sea Turtle Camp and Municipal Agent Mariana Castro Salvador.

Despite heavy morning rain, 16 community members, along with technicians and volunteers, joined the initiative and managed to collect approximately 500 kilograms of solid waste—mainly single-use plastics and glass containers.

Protecting Key Habitats

This effort not only improves the environmental quality of the coastal area but also directly supports the conservation of species such as the green turtle (Chelonia mydas), Kemp’s ridley turtle (Lepidochelys kempii), and the blue crab. These species rely on clean, healthy ecosystems to nest, feed, and reproduce. Local birds of prey also benefit from these improved conditions.

A Community Ally

The clean-up served as a bridge for collaboration between GPG and the local community, strengthening ties with CCC Tuxpan III and IV. Thanks to this partnership, future environmental initiatives are already in the works, including reforestation projects at the sports field and the local primary school in Emiliano Zapata Beach—benefiting children and youth in the area.

Through actions like this, GPG reaffirms its leadership in sustainability, making a lasting impact not only on natural environments but also in the communities it actively and responsibly supports.
