GPG Mexico promotes talent and culture in the National Challenge “My Life and the Wind”

As part of Global Wind Day and the 20th anniversary of the Mexican Wind Energy Association (AMDEE), the awards ceremony for the Sixth National Photography Challenge “My Life and the Wind” was held—an initiative aimed at raising awareness about the positive impact of wind energy in Mexico.

This year, GPG had the honour of awarding the Grand Prize of the competition, reaffirming its commitment to clean energy development, sustainability, and the strengthening of ties between communities and their environment.

GPG Grand Prize: “Roots to the Wind”

The winning piece, Raíces al viento by Violeta Guadalupe Hernández Moreno (Nuevo León), was recognised for its powerful depiction of the coexistence between nature and technology. The image portrays a fallen tree in front of a wind farm, symbolising the cycle of life and the journey towards a cleaner future.

“This award represents GPG’s commitment to an energy transition that respects the environment and values the active involvement of local communities. We are proud to be part of initiatives that inspire and connect people with the wind’s transformative power,” stated a GPG representative during the ceremony.

Outstanding Participation from Bií Hioxo

Among the participants, we proudly highlight Bryan Jiménez Monzón, a member of the Social Engagement team at the Bií Hioxo wind farm. He submitted the photograph Caminos de viento y fe (Paths of Wind and Faith), capturing the traditional Santa Cruz “Guze’benda” Pilgrimage in Juchitán, Oaxaca, where the community walks through the wind farm in an expression of faith, identity, and respect for the land.

This participation reflects GPG’s commitment not only to clean energy generation, but also to the respectful and active support of local traditions.

An Exhibition Touring Across Mexico

The winning works will form part of a travelling exhibition that will visit various cities across the country, spreading the message of sustainability, culture, and clean energy to a wider audience.

At GPG, the Wind Powers More than Energy

Through this challenge, GPG reaffirms its leadership in Mexico’s energy transition, promoting a vision in which technological innovation goes hand in hand with respect for local communities. We congratulate all participants—and especially those within GPG—who contribute with passion and dedication to this shared purpose.
