GPG Mexico, together with Casa Comunitaria Nacanu’ Bií and Bií Hioxo, celebrates “Guendaliza Sti’ Xcuidi”

The Bií Hioxo wind farm, in coordination with its Casa Comunitaria Nacanu’ Bií, promotes a Social Engagement Model that respects the idiosyncrasy of the Zapotec community.

As part of the “Guendaliza Sti’ Xcuidi” festivities (meaning “union of all the children”), the music and dance program enthusiastically joined the traditional regada parade through the main streets of downtown Juchitán, held last Sunday, May 4th at 5:00 p.m., reaffirming our commitment to the Zapotec community.

The parade began at the Calvario court and ended at the Church of San Vicente Ferrer. It was a vibrant reflection of the color, joy, and collective spirit that characterize this celebration.

During the procession, girls and boys carried carts filled with toys, symbolically representing the tradition at the heart of the regada festivities. Following them were the mayordomos Dylan Damián Carrasco López and Katherine Juliette Márquez López, children of supervisor Héctor Yariel Márquez Osornio.

Accompanying the mayordomos was the dance club, dressed in “tiliches” costumes, creating a festive atmosphere with their dances along the route, joined by children from the Casa Comunitaria Nacanu’ Bií music program.

Throughout the event, the various children’s groups accompanying the mayordomos handed out sweets to neighbors who stepped out of their homes, a simple yet culturally meaningful gesture.

Taking part in this tradition and engaging with it respectfully and closely is part of GPG Mexico’s commitment: to communicate on equal terms, to value the cultural richness of the Zapotec people, and to support the processes that strengthen their roots.
