The Bií Hioxo wind farm and the Nacanu’ Bií Community House held the first Mexican Afternoon (Juchitán)

The Bií Hioxo Wind Farm, in collaboration with its Nacanu’ Bií Community House, held the first-ever Mexican Afternoon at the Santa Martha Sports Center. The main goal was to strengthen community bonds, promote social responsibility, and proudly celebrate our cultural traditions.

The event brought together over 100 participants, including 22 Xquenda youth and 12 children from the pre-Hispanic music workshop, as well as collaborators, teachers, families, and neighbors from the community. From the welcome with typical drinks and snacks, every detail helped create a warm, family-friendly, and festive atmosphere.

The program included:

  • Performance by the children from the pre-Hispanic music club
  • Commemorative reading by Darvin López Santiago, recalling the beginning of Mexico’s fight for independence
  • Bingo in Zapotec language and themed around Isthmus culture, promoting social interaction and the preservation of traditions

These activities reflect GPG Mexico’s and the Bií Hioxo Wind Farm’s commitment to cultural preservation, strengthening community identity, and fostering spaces for coexistence that enrich our environment.

It is important to continue putting all our efforts into building together a future with strong roots and a living community.
