On 28 November, the Bií Hioxo wind farm was visited by 30 students and 2 teachers from the Electrical Engineering course at the Technological Institute of Oaxaca (Oaxaca, Mexico).
The aim of this activity was to provide participants with an educational experience on the operation of a wind farm and its interaction with the community. The visit was possible thanks to the collaborative agreement established with the Technological Institute of the Isthmus.
During the tour, the students, accompanied by supervisors Héctor Yariel Márquez Osornio and Carlos López Toledo, carried out various activities. Among them, the following stood out:
- A visit to the South Substation
- Detailed explanation of the general operation of the park and the medium voltage room.
- Exploration of the interior of a Gamesa wind turbine and nacelle, located on the campus of the Universidad of the Isthmus in Juchitán, which serves as a laboratory and has been visited as part of previous activities.
This initiative is part of the actions promoted by the Bií Hioxo wind farm which, through its Casa Comunitaria Nacanu’ Bií, organised four guided visits in 2024, benefiting over 83 students and 9 teachers from different educational levels.
These meetings are an opportunity to strengthen links with the community, showcase the work carried out and highlight GPG Mexico’s commitment in the regions where it operates.
As part of its Social Relationship model, this activity reflects the wind farm’s commitment to sustainable development and the training of future generations in the wind energy sector.
