They were welcomed by the plant’s employees:: Martha Suárez Jiménez, Fernando García Rivera, Francisco José Cerezo, Javier Iraheta Vázquez, Carlos Villegas Aguirre, Maira Gascón Corona, Lourdes Reyna Shulte, and Claudia Rivera Jarquim, under the coordination of Ramadán Salazar González, Corporate Social Responsibility Manager for LATAM, and the social management team of the site.
During the visit, community representatives commented on the community processes, the changes in social relations and how GPG has contributed to the different activities, by promoting training, the growth of young people and the monitoring of projects in the areas of Health, Water, Education and the Environment.
They highlighted the relevance of projects such as the installation of rainwater harvesting systems in educational centres, the Water School and its impact on young people, as well as the relevance of processes such as the Energy School, where people from different communities benefitted from the presence of organisations and facilitators from different institutions.
The representatives organised themselves to prepare and share food with the team at the power plant, enjoying a moment of conviviality and promoting co-responsibility: “It’s the only company that always gives us a warm welcome”, they said in a round of reflections.
At the end of the visit, the “shared values contract” activity was carried out, in which each person wrote down a value and they then voted for the five values they considered most important.
The most popular values were respect, honesty, teamwork and loyalty, but also trust, friendship, empathy, companionship, tolerance and obedience.
At the end, everyone involved signed the values contract and committed to working on them.
“I’m grateful for the support; the results have been visible, and the relationship has strengthened,” said Marian Castro
“A long time ago, the relationship with the company was complicated, but with time and good teamwork, things have improved a lot and we are committed to continue working in this way”, explained Doroteo Cruz
“We are very happy with the support and the time they dedicate to the communities,” commented Rubén Rojas
“hank you for inviting us to the plant; we are always warmly received and the support they give the communities is very important to us”, commented Eliezer Reyes
