Global Power Generation has worked continuously with local communities. Besides working on the project itself, which is a wealth generator in its own right, it has launched initiatives that help to improve the living conditions of local inhabitants:
Contribution to the improvement of community infrastructures: since 2018, local communities have been provided with support in the installation of materials to refurbish community infrastructure.
Supporting education: A Scholarships Programme has been maintained since 2017 for students at the Telebachillerato Km. 15, which consists of school maintenance, teaching material, allowances, uniforms and transport for students who meet the requirements of low income and grades. Approximately 80 students receive a scholarship each semester.
Support for the COVID-19 health emergency: Donation in kind for the Red Cross and Subzone 26 IMSS General Hospital in Tuxpan for the protection of medical staff and improved care for patients with COVID-19. On the other hand, medical equipment was also donated to medical clinics in Paises Bajos (Km.8) and Práxedes Guerrero (Km.18), which provide primary healthcare to people living in the communities around the power plant. Donations of food and basic necessities were also given to vulnerable families in coordination with the Municipality of Tuxpan.
