School environmental activities in Juchitán

As part of the activities of the Bií Hioxo Wind Farm’s community development area (Laanu Group), a forestation project was carried out with the Año de Juárez Primary School in the Seventh Section neighbourhood of Juchitán, as a way of doing environmental education activities through experiential education.

A total of 17 awareness-raising workshops were held at the Año de Juárez Primary School in which  400 students, 17 teachers and 5 member of the administrative staff took part. The objective of the activity was to make the participants aware of the importance of trees and their role in ecological balance, and therefore the need to plant and take care of them.

It is worth mentioning that the primary school is in Bií Hioxo’s area of interest and influence and two aspects of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) were worked on: Responsible management of the environment and interest in people.

We are working along the lines of one of the UN’s SDGs: Climate action, taking urgent action to combat climate change and its effects. With these actions Naturgy demonstrates its commitment to its owners and the Juchitán community through Bií Hioxo.
