Global Power Generation has been awarded a total of 91 MW power output in a wind farm project located in New South Wales, in the ACR (Australia Capital Region*), 90 km from Canberra, the capital of Australia. This is a 20-year regulated plan contract, announced by the Government of the Australian Capital Territory (ACT), in accordance with the conditions of tender. The ACT is positioned at the forefront of combating climate change, and is committed to a target of 100% renewable energy by 2020 and carbon neutrality by 2050.
GPG will invest over 177 million Australian dollars (about 120 million euros) in the construction of the Crookwell II park and other associated investments, and expects to begin operating in the second half of 2018.
GPG will also contribute financing to an ACT programme to promote domestic and commercial storage of renewable energy using batteries.
This will be the first investment for GPG in Australia and the Asia-Pacific region, which was listed as a priority area in the GPG and GAS NATURAL FENOSA Strategic Plan presented last May.
