GPG Mexico, through the Tuxpan III and IV combined cycle plants, has inaugurated the “Reading and Film Debate Club” project, with activities taking place at Casa Verde in Villamar. This initiative coincides with International Reader’s Day, celebrated on August 24, 2024.
This club marks the beginning of a series of activities aimed at promoting reading, writing, and the enjoyment of dialogue among the communities along the Kilometers Route.
The inauguration was attended by seven people, including four women and three men, who reside in the communities along the Kilometers Route and have previously participated in various initiatives promoted by the community relations department. The attendees began the day with personal introductions, sharing their literary preferences and favorite characters.
The event featured a collective storytelling activity using images, where each participant contributed ideas to continue the narrative. This activity created an atmosphere of enthusiasm and collaboration, highlighting the participants’ interest in contributing to the story’s creation.
“The Peak of the Dream”
Marina, born into a wealthy family, always dreamed of becoming a ballerina. However, her parents’ expectations led her down a different path: taking over the family business. Despite everything, Marina never stopped longing for the world of ballet.
One day, while going through old belongings, Marina finds a diary she wrote in her youth. Reading it, she relives the dreams and desires she once had. Through the pages of that diary, Marina embarks on an emotional journey that reconnects her with her most authentic self from the past.
Reading a romance story inspires her to yearn for a passionate love story.
“I was afraid to participate, but now I can’t wait for the second club meeting,” said Maite, a club member. “I felt free today. I thought the activities would be boring and that we would only read. Now, I’m excited for the next session, and I can’t wait to learn more about reading and film.”
