GPG says farewell to its Sea Turtle Camp and Social Management with a celebration (Veracruz, Mexico)

Last 30 November activities concluded at the Nakú Kayám Turtle Camp in Playa Villamar (Veracruz, Mexico).

The activity was led by this season’s technicians and included a talk on environmental education. This was followed by a collaborative activity in which the technicians built a sculpture of two sea turtles on the beach using sand and shells.

It featured the two species arriving to the northern coast of Veracruz. In addition, signs with messages of peace and conservation were created, with the intention of spreading their message to everyone. The activity also sought to promote a culture of peace, especially in the context of community development and the conservation of endangered species and biodiversity in general.

At this same closing meeting, the technicians conducted a self-evaluation of their performance during the turtle monitoring season, as well as a peer and camp evaluation.

To conclude, a convivencia (gathering) was organised between the social management team and the technicians, in which commitments focused on the care of resources, the conservation of sea turtle species and the promotion of a culture of peace in the region.
