Inauguration of the Adolfo López Mateos Community Centre in Durango (Mexico)

Global Power Generation (GPG) has been actively involved in renovating the community development centre, providing support to the project initiated by the National System for Integral Family Development (DIF) in Durango, in order to foster healthy social coexistence and promote local community development.

The project will directly benefit 25,000 people in 10 neighbourhoods, who will be able to enjoy the programme of sports, recreational and cultural activities run by the DIF, such as gym, sewing, cookery, ballet and self-defence classes, among others, that have been selected through the discussions held previously with the region’s residents to find out their interests.

“Here, we are going to have children who will be able to take part in sports activities, in order to continue improving quality of life in Durango and in the country. Renovating and putting public spaces to use enables us to turn areas prone to drug addiction or vandalism into spaces ‘filled with dreams’.”

Thanks to the work that GPG is doing with civil society organisations and local authorities, it is possible to carry out actions to rescue spaces that are vital for social development. This is an example of how our Social Relations Model works, in its basic role of creating shared value and opportunities in our business environment.
