No te pierdas las acciones por el medio ambiente llevadas a cabo por GPG México a lo largo del mes de febrero

In order to promote sustainability and environmental commitment in the region, the Bií Hioxo wind farm in collaboration with its “Nacanu’ Bií” Community House has carried out a series of activities aimed at promoting the care and preservation of the environment.

In collaboration with various stakeholders, such as partner schools, “Xquendas” volunteers, neighbours and the community in general, the following actions were carried out in February :

•  Cleaning of the main areas in Playa Vicente, where 4 large bags of waste, mainly plastics, were collected.
• Collection of PET plastic in collaboration with the Gui’shi Nayaa (Green Garbage) and Xquendas (Souls) collective, obtaining 25 bags full.
• Clean-up day at the Santa Martha pitch organised by the Nacanu’ Bií football club.
• Donation of plastic tops for children with cancer by the “Cristóbal Colón” primary school in Playa Vicente.
• Reactivation, maintenance and harvesting of plants in the Nacanu’ Bií community garden.
• Cleaning of the Tiburón field, located in the Ninth District, collecting 4 bags of various waste and 6 bags of PET plastic.
• Reforestation in the Tiburón field in the Ninth District.

In the last of these activities, 22 trees were planted, including species such as neem, almond and mango, selected for their ability to thrive in the local ecosystem and contribute to environmental restoration.

“These actions are very important and it is good that the company is carrying them out. The problem is that people do not take part because it isn’t in our culture to do so, but if we get together, even if there are not many of us, we can make a small change, in Juchitán and in the surrounding areas, that require it”, commented Omar Pineda, a family member of the owners.
