“Painting your education” project: playing and learning in a space filled with colour

Improving and refurbishing schools should be a priority for all, given that education is one of the cornerstones for building a better future for younger generations. With this in mind, GPG joined the initiative to ensure children can study in a healthy, clean and pleasant environment.

Works began in 2019 at Technical Secondary School 44. During 2020, teachers and students worked together to paint Escuadrón 2021 and Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz primary schools.

This project could not have been achieved with the support of GPG, who donated the paint.

GPG’s commitment to society hasn’t faltered during the pandemic and the refurbishment works have continued. In May 2020, Technical Secondary School 68, Juán Ávila and El Jardín de Niños Juan Rulfo schools were also painted.

Dirty, graffiti-covered brick walls with flaking paint damaged by time and the changing weather gave these schools a rather bleak appearance, but now they look spotless and radiant in their new colours.

To ensure children’s safety, Sonora State authorities have stated that they will be able to return to classrooms when the environment is safe. Meanwhile, GPG will continue with its work so that when the children do return, they can play and learn in a space now full of colour and light.
